Lake Malawi is a great extension for any safari, whether it be to Botswana, Zimbabwe or Zambia. If it is after a Zambia safari there are flights linking Mfuwe to Lilongwe, and then it is a charter flight up to Likoma island for the stunning Kaya Mawa Lodge. Set on the shores of Lake Malawi, it is surely the most idyllic lodge in the world.
This is a great combination of a safari in South Luangwa, Zambia, followed by a flight into Lilongwe, and onto Majete Nat Park, one of Malawi’s developing National Parks, and then 3 nights on Lake Malawi.
This itinerary starts in Lusaka and we fly to Mfuwe for the Nsefu area of South Luangwa, rich in game and amazing activities, then it’s a regional flight to Lilongwe and a charter flight to Majete Nat Park in the southern region of Malawi.
Majete National Park is one of Africa’s success stories, having been rehabilitated by African Parks. They have introduced many game animals by trans location and restored them to their former glory. Mukulmadzi Lodge offers game drives, viewing from Hides and cultural village visits.
The safari finishes with a beautiful 3-night stay at Lake Malawi before returning to Lilongwe for onward travel.
