Self Drive & Guided Tours

Self Drive & Guided Tours

Guided tours where you explore with a vehicle and driver is a wonderful way to explore a country safely while learning about its people and geography in a much more intimate way than flying will ever allow.

Zimbabwe and Namibia both have wonderful and diverse scenery, good infrastructure and safe driving conditions that make a driving itinerary a pleasure. Don’t be scared off by the thought of driving in Africa; these aren’t countries the highways are well maintained, smooth and enjoyable and small stretches of gravel roads easily navigated. While Botswana doesn’t have many tar roads however areas like the Makgadikgadi and Khama Rhino Sanctuary are easily explored via 2wd. To get off the beaten track in the more rugged and remote National Parks such as Moremi, Chobe, the Central Kalahari and Nxai Pan you will need 4wd. Here a driver/guide may also be an advantage as navigating becomes trickier.

Advantages of Self Drive & Escorted Tours

  • Flexibility- you can stop where and when you want- to try a restaurant you pass, barter for curios from a roadside stall or simply to take in the sights.
  • Sense of adventure.
  • Ability to visit remote destinations away from flight routes.
  • Great way to see the countryside and meet the people, driving is a much more intimate way to travel.
  • Escorted Tours mean your driver/guide will share a wealth of knowledge about their home country.
